The official tournament mod is not publicly available — and never will be, per the organizers. The official FAQ at nuzlocke.in states it plainly: “This is a custom mod of Pokémon Emerald made by Atsign. It’s randomized as well. The mod will not be posted publicly anywhere.”

Anyone offering a download of “the real Invitational ROM” is not offering the real thing.

The fan-made alternative: Pokémon Randolocke

The best-known public approximation is Pokémon Randolocke (v1.1, released August 2025 on PokeCommunity) — explicitly “inspired by the ROM hack used in pChal and PointCrow’s Nuzlocke Invitational”: a Nuzlocke-oriented randomized Emerald hack. Individual Reddit users have also built their own “Invitational-style” hacks.

Why the organizers keep it private

The mod’s rules are part of the competition: automatic level caps, the shared shrinking encounter pool, dupes protection and the balanced randomization logic are what make runs comparable across 18 players. A public build would also be a ROM-distribution liability. The community consensus (r/pchaltv) accepts the arrangement — the event is a spectator sport, and the mod is its arena.

What to play instead

If the Invitational format is what you’re after — randomized, level-capped, hardcore — you can assemble a close equivalent yourself:

  1. Take Pokémon Emerald and apply a randomizer with balanced/similar-strength settings.
  2. Play it under Hardcore rules (level caps, no items, Set mode).
